Britney Spears allowed their lawyer to fight | Social and Cultural Affairs

Grief-stricken Britney Spears won a landslide victory over her father on Wednesday, when a judge ruled she could choose her own lawyer to help end a 13-year-long probationary period that super pop has condemned as “cruel.”

The anti-corruption system, called the Conservatorship, dates back to 2008 and gives Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, control of his business and affairs. So far he is the only one in charge of his $ 60 million position.

“You’re letting my dad ruin my life,” Spears, 39, told a Los Angeles judge by telephone. “I have to get rid of my father and charge him with abusing the government.”

Speaking for about 10 minutes, and being very angry and upset, Spears said he was always “very scared of my dad.”

He also said that he was tired of the many mental tests and wanted the project to be completed without another one.

“I’m not a perfect person … but their goal is to make me feel crazy,” Spears said.

It was the second time that Spears had spoken in court. Last month he described the agency as “cruel and stupid” for a 20-minute public talk that sparked a worldwide interest in supervision, which the father of his daughter initiated after his daughter contracted dementia. Much of Spears’ mental health information has never been made public.

Los Angeles Supreme Court Judge Brenda Penny on Wednesday endorsed former state attorney Mathew Rosengart as Spears’ lawyer. A lawyer nominated by the singer’s court came out last week.

Rosengart told the AFP news agency on the sidelines of the case that he would apply “immediately” for the removal of Jamie Spears as caretaker – and said the singer’s father should resign.

“We are filing a petition soon to move the Spears, according to what we want to keep,” said Rosengart, who represented as Steven Spielberg and Sean Penn.

“As I said in the open court, the right question is: why does Spears not resign? He is no longer in charge of this. And we hope he resigns voluntarily.”

Spears, who became known as a world-famous child, went public in 2007 after being tortured by the paparazzi.

A California court appointed him to oversee the following year and the singer soon resumed playing, releasing three albums, appearing on a radio show and residing in Las Vegas.

But in January 2019, he suddenly announced that he was suspending his party until further notice.

His case drew a lot of attention, from fans singing outside the court – who greeted the judge on his behalf with cheers – to their fellow singers Christina Aguilera and Madonna.

At a small show in Washington DC, Patrick Thomas, 34, the leader of the recently formed Free Britney America, described the singer’s actions as “old-fashioned”.

“It simply came to our notice then. This is for anyone caught in one of these, I would call it a prison, “said Thomas, whose party is pushing for a parliamentary session and oversight of security agencies.

In his opening remarks in court in June, Spears complained about being banned from marrying or having multiple children, and said he had been forced to take drugs against his will.

Spears said he was made to protest during threats, and that he was not allowed to change secrets or drive his car.

“I just want my life back on track. It’s been 13 years and that’s enough, ”he said.

Since then, many of the pioneers in the Spears administration have resigned themselves, including Samuel Ingham, a lawyer appointed shortly after his death, and longtime caretaker Larry Rudolph.

Jamie Spears ‘lawyer did not oppose the appointment of a new lawyer for their daughter, but told the court that Spears’ claims that his father’s treatment of her was “a very serious matter from the truth.”

Demonstrating his inability to leave freely, the lawyer said Spears’ father had “been 24/7 for the past 13 years,” and repeated to the court to investigate what the singer was doing to him.
