Branson’s July 11 service will be the 22nd VSS Unity test, and the fourth aircraft production flight.

Billionaire businessman Richard Branson arrives at the end of the site on a tour of Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc on July 11, Branson’s tourism company said on Thursday, beating billionaire and astronomer-elect Jeff Bezos.

Branson’s successful ride on the VSS Unity Spaceplane of the Virgin would have been a milestone in the race for a new era of business travel.

It also means that Branson will surpass the world ahead of Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin.

Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com Inc, is expected to fly on July 20 with his brother Mark, pilot Wally Funk and an unidentified man who dropped $ 28m to join a suborbital party.

Reuters also reported last month that Branson was considering organizing demonstrations a few days before Bezos.

The competition, which also includes SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk, is encouraged by the assurance that air travel will be improved as modern technology is proven and the price will fall, which adds to UBS estimates it could be a $ 3bn annual air market by 2030. Musk has not set a date for the flight.

“Virgin Galactic is at the forefront of the development of new commercial weapons, which are expected to open up the world and transform the world,” Branson said in a statement following Virgin’s announcement.

Branson’s July 11 performance will be the 22nd test at VSS Unity, with the launch of the fourth company, Virgin.

But he will be the first to carry the entire crew of two pilots and four “missionary experts”, including Branson.

Two more pilots are preparing for Virgin before it is expected to begin commercial operations in 2022, Virgin said.
