Lina Khan, a self-disciplined expert and critic of Big Tech, has been confirmed to Federal Trade Commission. The Senate approved Khan’s election by a vote of 69-28.
President Joe Biden has appointed a professor of Law Law in Columbia to be the FTC Commissioner for March. He published an article in the 2017 Yale Law Journal that criticized the US anti-US system in the United States, arguing that current laws and policies are not enough to establish large companies like Amazon. On a reassuring hearing in April, Khan he objected “that the ability to control in one market gives companies, in some cases, greater potential to reach nearby markets.”
“I’m very happy in the Senate for the confirmation,” Khan said wrote in a tweet. “Congress created the FTC to protect fair competition and to protect consumers, employees, and businesses honestly from injustice & fraud. I hope to fulfill this mission vigorously and serve the American people.”
Biden has not yet elected a permanent seat on the council or another to lead the division of the Department of Justice, such as New York Times notes. However, there are some well-known antitrust inhibitors in its administration. Earlier this year, the president elected Tim Wu, the neutral lawyer who coined the term, as White House adviser to the National Economic Council.
