Democrat lawmakers want to prevent the government from recognizing the face

Four Democratic Democrat lawmakers want to ban the federal government from using face recognition technology. Led by Massachusetts Senator Edward J. Markey and Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley, the group plans to launch Face Recognition Act and Biometric Technology Moratorium Act going to Congress. If granted, the funding could prevent government officials from using technology along with a number of biometric devices such as voice recognition. Or, more important, government agencies and local authorities, as well as law enforcement agencies, may have to go to their rooms to obtain funds from the government.

In describing the importance of the intervention of points, the group mentions a reports from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The commission recently found that black people are 100 times more likely to have facial recognition than white people. Legislators also point out last year wrongful arrest of Robert Williams. According to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the incident is the first known case of incorrectly constructed in the US based on the wrong facial expression.

When organizations such as the ACLU and the Electronic Frontier Foundation come to support the bill, it will not be difficult to get through a divided Parliament and a year before the 2022 general elections. Boston has banned face recognition, but the ban does not prevent government officials from using expertise in the area.
