The US and Russia want to find a solution if there is a long-running dispute between the two.

US President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin ended their meeting in Geneva, ending the first meeting between the two since Biden took office in January.

The talks Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland, took about four hours, according to the White House.

Expectations to come from anywhere were low, with Moscow and Washington at odds over arms control and cyber theft to disrupt elections with Ukraine.

Earlier, Putin and Biden shook hands with each other when they arrived.

“Mr. President, I would like to thank you for your efforts to meet today,” Putin said, near Biden. “The relationship between the US and Russia has many issues that have been in need of a comprehensive conference.”

Biden said the two have tried to identify areas of mutual interest and interest between them.

“It’s always good to meet face to face,” he said.
