A spokesman for the Kentucky hurricane candle factory said the death toll could be lower than expected.

U.S. President Joe Biden has announced a major disaster in Kentucky, extending more aid to the worst-affected area, following a spate of attacks. a torrential downpour it was torn in the middle of the country.

Biden made the announcement late Sunday, two days after the government announced that more than 30 hurricanes had wreaked havoc on seven U.S. states, leaving much to be desired.

Although the death toll remains unknown, and as of Monday, at least six people have been killed in Illinois, four in Tennessee and two in Arkansas, according to government officials.

Kentucky remained extremely stable, with the Louisville Courier Journal finding at least 50 people confirmed dead by government officials.

“It’s a pity,” Biden said. “And we still don’t know how many people were lost and the total damage.”

In anticipation of a possible outbreak, the expected death toll from 70 people when a candle factory collapsed in the small town of Mayfield could be reversed to 16 or less.

Mayfield Consumer Products spokesman Bob Ferguson said of the 110 people at the factory, eight were pronounced dead and eight were missing. Rescue teams are searching for eight people whose whereabouts are unknown.

“There were old reports that about 70 people could die in the factory. One is too much, but thank God the numbers are declining, “Ferguson told Reuters.

Meanwhile, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, who Saturday was he predicted the risk of death in the state will rise to more than 100, he told a news conference Sunday evening that information would have been collected.

“The owner contacted him and he believes he has a lot more. We’re trying to prove it. If so, it could be the best and the miracle we expect,” Beshear said.

It has reduced the number of deaths in the state to 50, the Associated Press reported.

Biden had already announced that the storm was an emergency, prompting the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide relief after thousands of people face shortages of housing, food, water and electricity.

But under the emergency announcement, the grant is only $ 5 million, according to the FEMA website.

Biden’s new announcement of a major federal disaster is triggering federal assistance, including temporary housing and renovation funds, insurance to cover the loss of uninsured property, and other programs to help individuals and businesses recover from the crisis.

As part of its response, FEMA opened a shelter and shipped teams and supplies, including 30,000 meals and 45,000 liters (12,000 gallons) of water.

“I promise you, whatever is needed – whatever is needed – the government will find a way to provide,” Biden said.

Rescuers were still searching for the remains of survivors two days after the crash, but authorities on Sunday said hopes of finding the missing were diminished.

About 300 members of the National Guard have been going from house to house, monitoring people and helping to dispose of the garbage.
