After the summit in Palais Coburg, Iran’s chief negotiator, Ali Bagheri Kani, said the delegates agreed that “good progress” had taken place for the seventh time in the past 10 days, and that there was now a “good plan” to advance the talks. . .
“The most important thing at the Joint Commission meeting was that the various parties should emphasize the importance of prioritizing the removal of sanctions, as well as confirmation and affirmation during the eighth period,” he said.
Bagheri said the talks would continue on Tuesday. The Iranian delegation has already stated its intention to remain in Vienna until the agreement reached in Tehran is finalized.
With the US exit from the JCPOA led by former President Donald Trump, Iran now wants sanctions to be lifted, ensuring that the US does not leave, and that it is time to ensure that sanctions are lifted.
JCPOA provided relief to Iran in exchange for its nuclear program. But after the United States removed and imposed sanctions, Iran abandoned the routes and now uses high-centrifuges to produce uranium up to 60 percent.
Enrique Mora, the European Union’s foreign policy chief at the summit, told reporters outside the bloc that time was limited due to Iran’s nuclear proliferation, but all delegates wanted to end the talks.
“We have come a long way since we started talking. We have incorporated the sentiments of the new Iranian government. “Therefore, from the point of view of the presidency, we are exactly where we should be if we want to achieve the final results,” he said, referring to the government of the incumbent President Ebrahim Raisi who came to power in August.
“If we work hard in the days and weeks to come, we should have good results. It will be very difficult. Tough political decisions must be made in Tehran and in Washington. “
Russia’s top diplomat, Mikhail Ulyanov, described the meeting as “business-like and vice versa” with the aim of achieving a speedy agreement, and explained that the eighth round was “probably the last” in the negotiations.
Earlier on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said the eighth round would go ahead and circulate a new “official” document.
