The Bank of Tanzania says it plans to introduce digital banking, or CBDC, in Africa after neighboring countries announced similar proposals.
According to a Friday Bloomberg report, Bank of Tanzania Governor Florens Luoga he said On Thursday, Tanzania plans to follow Nigeria’s example by launching its CBDC. Luoga says the central bank has “already started preparing” digital currency, the Tanzanian currency since 1966.
