The 19-year-old security investigator said the fault of the software he used was not in Tesla’s software or architecture.

A 19-year-old security detective is said to have robbed more than 25 vehicles of Tesla Inc. in 13 countries, he claims in a series of tweets that a software error enabled him to use the EV pioneer system.

David Colombo, a self-proclaimed information technology specialist, wrote Tuesday that the software’s flaws allow it to open doors and windows, start unlocked vehicles and disable their security systems.

Colombo also said they could see if the driver was in the car, turn on the stereo headset and turn on their headlights.

I think it’s dangerous, if someone can sing in the distance or open windows / doors when you’re on the highway.

Even uninterrupted power outages can cause some (dangerous) problems for some drivers.

The teenager did not disclose much of the program’s security, but said it was not within Tesla’s program or infrastructure, and added that Tesla owners around the world were the ones most affected. His Twitter thread brought a strong response, with over 800 retweets and more than 6,000 likes.

“It’s the fault of the owners (& someone else),” Colombo told Bloomberg News. “This will be explained in more detail in my articles. But I’m glad to see Tesla taking action now.”

A Tesla representative in China declined to comment, while a group of journalists around the world did not respond to an email asking for comment outside of West Coast business hours.

No I can not interfere with the person driving the car (except starting music at high volume or burning lights) and I can not drive these Teslas away.

According to an online report, Tesla from the US has a platform for revealing risks while security investigators can register their vehicles for testing, which Tesla can approve. The company pays up to $ 15,000 at the appropriate risk.

Colombo later wrote on Twitter that he had contacted the Tesla security forces, and said he was investigating the matter. The group said it would come back with any changes, he said.
