The Red SUV passes through a Christmas party in Waukesha, Wisconsin, hitting more than 20 people.

A sports car passed a Christmas protest in Wisconsin state, hit more than 20 people, including children and caused “murder”, police said.

The incident happened around 4:39 pm (22:39 GMT) on Sunday in Waukesha city, about 32 kilometers (20 kilometers) west of Milwaukee.

Waukesha police chief Dan Thompson said the suspect was in custody and the suspect’s car had been found.

The accommodation system had been scrapped, police said.

“A red SUV crashed into our Christmas party in town. More than 20 people were injured in the incident,” Thompson told reporters.

When asked about the victims, Thompson stated: “I do not currently have the exact number.

“It is not clear if the incident is related to terrorism, he said.

An online video of the incident showed a red SUV plowing across the plains, apparently passing more than a dozen people.

In the second video, police were seen shooting at the car as it hit the roads.

A local CBS assistant later posted a picture on Twitter of what looked like a red SUV that was touched by its curved hood and dangling front cover, suspended from the road.

A woman told Fox6 TV in Milwaukee that the SUV hit a dance group of girls between the ages of 9 and 15. She said what happened immediately was silence, followed by screaming, running and examining the injured, Fox6 said.

Corey Montiho, a member of the Waukesha district board, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that her daughter’s dance troupe was hit by an SUV.

“She was pom-pom with shoes and hot chocolate was everywhere. I had to move from one twisted body to another to get my daughter,” he said. “My wife and two daughters were almost affected. Please pray for everyone. Please pray.”

One witness said the driver hit the “Dancing Grannies”, and one man jumped on the SUV, according to Milwaukee’s WISN-TV, affiliated with ABC.

One Witness reported that the SUV was traveling about 40 miles an hour (40 km / h) when it struck a crowd, the state television said.

Photos and videos of Waukesha circulating on Twitter showed police cars and ambulances crowding the streets with Christmas lights after the incident. Prisoners lined the streets in the late afternoon.

Some of the injured were taken to hospital by ambulance, others by police and more by relatives and friends, Thompson said.

“As we made our way back to the apartment … we saw an SUV crossing, and I just set foot on the rails and hurried off the road. Then we heard loud noises, deafening screams and screams from the victims,” ​​Angelito Tenorio, alderman near West Allis, told Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Police rushed to the street, telling onlookers to hide in shops, the newspaper said.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said he and his wife, Kathy, “are praying for Waukesha tonight with all children, families, and community members affected by the abuse.”
