Indiana Governor takes part in a memorial service for the Indianapolis’ Sikh group, which is still grappling with threats last month.
Sikhs in Indianapolis in the United States organized a memorial service on Saturday in honor of the eight people killed in a shooting at a Fed Ex house last month.

U.S. journalists have identified the victims of Amarjeet Kaur Johal, 66, Amarjit Sekhon, 48; Matthew R. Alexander, 32 years old; Samaria Blackwell, 19 years old; Jasvinder Kaur, 50; Jaswinder Singh, 68 years old; Karli Smith, 19 years old; and John Weisert, 74.
Authorities have not yet identified the motive for the shooting, which took place between them an increase in gun violence in the United States.
“In this difficult time, it is up to all of us to work together and help each other recover,” said Balwinder Singh, a Sikh leader in Indianapolis.
“We hope that Hoosiers of all nationalities and Sikhs from the West Midwest will join us on Saturday to help all the families affected by the tragedy.”
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said his message was to Sikhs, migrants and to “anyone who is threatened by this because of their status” and that “they have been welcomed into Indianapolis”.
“And it is the responsibility of all our citizens to make sure you are aware of this,” Hogsett said on Saturday.
