It will not surprise you to hear Twitter fighting the former President Trump’s case for his ban. Bloomberg reports Twitter has asked the judge to drop the case because he allegedly misinterpreted it and threatened the company’s freedom of speech. The social networking site saw that it was a private company that did not have to make statements that they did not like, and that Trump repeatedly violated the rules he had agreed upon when choosing to use the service. Forced retaliation for refusing to oppose “basic principles of law,” said Twitter.
In addition, Twitter criticized his decision on human rights issues, including the threat of a peaceful change in the White House and statements that could lead to “more violence.” The company only announced Trump’s tweets as misleading in preparation for the January 6th Capitol strike, but banned him from continuing.
Attorney General John Coale has denounced Twitter as a “state actor” as Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act says it equates to a coercive force that favors First Amendment just as the government does. The Ministry of Justice in Biden has challenged this interpretation in the courts, however, arguing that Section 230 only means protecting from adversity, not directing the statements of officials like the former President.
Trump is not expecting a back to Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites. He recently launched Social Truth is aimed at self-help and other ritualists who have been heard to be shut down by professional companies. If Twitter succeeds in its demand for removal, Trump will have no choice but to abandon his beloved platform.
