YouTube brings up the long-awaited feature of its iPhone app: picture-picture (PiP). All Premium subscribers will soon be able to see viewers, and YouTube says it plans to allow PiP for all iOS users in the US.
“Picture-in-Picture allows users to watch YouTube videos in a mini while simultaneously browsing outside the YouTube app on their phone,” a YouTube spokesperson told Engadget. “We are starting to establish a PiP that YouTube Required members on iOS, and plans to launch a PiP for all US users in the US. ”
Apple introduced PiP to the iPhone last year as part of iOS 14. Many video editors already support this, including Netflix, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + and Apple TV. Although it supported PiP on Android from 2018, YouTube was popular on iOS until it changed its mind, which was first mentioned by MacRumors.
