RIP Dilip Kumar: India, Pakistan joins grief of well-known artist | Gallery Articles

Dilip Kumar, one of India’s best-known actors known to be a dangerous hero in Bollywood films, died Wednesday morning, his family said.

Kumar was 98 years old and had been ill for some time, one of the doctors who helped him tell reporters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan apologized, Modi said Kumar was “blessed with extraordinary wisdom”.

“For my generation Dilip Kumar was a great player and very smart,” Khan said on Twitter.

At his home in Mumbai, Bollywood actors and filmmakers, including Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan and Karan Johar, set out to pay their respects.

His funeral was held in honor of the state cemetery in Mumbai.

Officials in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, say they want to renovate the actor’s parents’ house in a narrow street in the city.

“We are now working on an environmental project,” said Abdus Samad, head of the archeology department.

“The party is gone … every time Indian Cinema history is written, it will be in front of Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar,” actor Amitabh Bachchan said on Twitter.
