Sony A7 IV Review: A very powerful well-integrated camera
[ad_1]
Nearly four years since Sony released its best version A7 III A glass-filled hybrid camera, eventually started to follow. The A7 IV brings many new features such as a 33-megapixel high-resolution display, advanced graphics and customizable AI-powered autofocus. However, at $ 2,500 and $ 500 more than the A7 III was at the start.
Much has changed over the years between the two species. Sony now has to deal with such dangerous opponents Canon EOS R6 and Nikon Z6 II. It has also produced some new high-quality brands like A7S III, A7R IV and A1 full of modern technology.
Goodness
- The beauty of images
- 4K 60p 4: 2: 2 video
- Amazing autofocus
- Great care
worse
- Closing the lock
- Slow shooting speed
- High price
With all of that, I was eager to see how the A7 IV could establish itself in the group that ruled them for several years. How do they differ from their competitors, especially when it comes to video? How many new high-tech technologies have reached the A7 IV model? And is it suitable for use by professionals? Let’s jump in and find out.
Design and maintenance

Sony’s A1, A7S III and A7R IV all had significant physical changes compared to their predecessors, and the A7 IV follows the same script. It has a similarly large handle, so you do not feel lost, even with large lenses. However, it has taken a heft with its size, weighing 699 grams compared to 650 by AIII. It’s 7mm thick, too.
It has the same controls as the A7 III, the main difference being that the write button has moved from the back to the easy-to-find location. Buttons and dials usually feel comfortable and precise, and the pull is strong and easy to use. It has no other dials compared to the more expensive A1, as it shoots with autofocus dials. The closed interest rate is the same, but there are no pictures because it was designed to be editable.
In one sense, the body of the A7 IV is a step from the A1. The rear viewer is able to explain well rather than just the inclination, so it is very useful for shooting a little deeper based on the image. This also makes it very useful as a vlogging camera.
It has well-organized menu systems such as the A1 and A7S III, although some modes can be difficult to find. As with any modern camera then, it is time to set up a list of items, menus and handsets that you like. Overall, Sony’s menu is now in a much better category, and well-organized than Canon’s EOS R6, for example.

The 3.69-million dot EVF is better than the 2.68-million dot one on the A7 and compared to competitors of similar value. However, the rear display is smaller and has a lower aspect ratio than the one on the R6. This can make handwriting look tricky, although the A7 IV has new features that can help out there – more on that soon.
The A7 IV features dual-slot cards that support SD UHS II as well as high-speed A-CFexpress cards. However, unlike the A1 and A7S III slots, it has only one component, and the other is SD UHS II only. CFexpress type cards are not as fast as regular CFexpress cards, over 800 MB / s compared to 1,700 MB / s. They are also used in Sony cameras, so it is hard to find them as well quite expensive.
Some of the features include a USB-C port that can power the camera during operation, as well as a large HDMI port, thank God. It uses Sony’s new NP-FZ100 battery that delivers up to 580 shots on price, or about 2 hours of 4K video recording. Finally, the A7 IV can close its mechanical lock when the camera is turned off, and protect it from dust when changing glasses. This is the segment that first appeared on EOS R, which is why thank you for launching this, Canon.

Sony glassless cameras are known for their autofocus speed and AI smarts and the A7 IV is similar. However, Sony made some mistakes that affected performance.
The new 33-megapixel sensor is mounted on the rear but steady as a sensor on the A1, which is why read speeds are relatively low. As a result, the shooting speed is 10 fps like the A7 III in mechanical or mechanical locks on compressed RAW images, and drops to 6 fps if you use lost or mixed RAW, as many artists like to do.
This is still interesting because the sentence has risen by about 50 percent. In comparison, the Sony A1 is capable of capturing 50-megapixel images at speeds up to 30fps, demonstrating the full sensitivity of the full sensor.
Although the blast speed does not work well, you can take multiple images at once, up to 1,000 in mixed RAW format. If you use CFexpress Type A cards from Sony or ProGrade, you can shoot indefinitely without filling the buffer.

What also comes up is the speed of the A7 IV sensor and the shutter drive. If you want to shoot silently at lightning, you have to stop the camera and your head can no longer move fast. Otherwise, you will see sloping lines and some old objects that can be bad to ruin the shot. Using seeds is very helpful, but then you lose the benefits of the full sensor.
The A7 IV is Sony’s most advanced camera when it comes to autofocus. All of Sony’s AI smart features add to the ease of use as well as the reliable camera I’ve tried in this regard.
Unlike the A7 III, face, eye and body monitoring work in all ways to monitor animals, birds and humans. Unless you are extinguishing it, it simply picks up the eyes, face or body of your head and follows it even if it is turned on or off.
Whether you are following sports, birds or cars, the places you follow are often locked in your head. All you have to do is touch the subject you want to follow and the camera will remove it from there.

The A7 IV Autofocus can be easily aligned with the camera speed of the game or a bird shooter. But most importantly, the A7 IV nails are always looking for other problems, especially with people. Sometimes the chaos with so many stories and the intricate lighting, I ended up with a very small unused shot. Keep in mind that the functionality requires the latest Sony glasses, but it also worked with the latest Sigma models.
Focus is only one part of the equation. It incorporates continuous auto shape and good cleanliness in challenging conditions as well as combining lighting. This worked well in a bar with a mix of studio and utility lighting, or in front of a popular Paris store with art windows and all kinds of lighting.
Physical stabilization makes for a half-stop above A7 III to 5.5 with stained glass suspension, but nothing comes close to the Canon 8 suspension on the EOS R6. This is similar to Sony’s high-performance ISO system, however. I could still shoot for up to half a second with care.

The main upgrade to the A7 IV is with color graphics. You can expect the most mature and the most flexible, and it really delivers this. However, you may also think that small pixels can make A7 IV worse, but it is not. Instead, through several ISO models, the A7 IV performs much better than Sony’s lightweight champion, the A7S III.
Images are white and are used in very light formats up to ISO 12,800, with lots even on blurry images. Instead, the A7 IV has the lowest noise I have ever seen in the ISO format. Clear images can be used up to ISO 25,600, but noise becomes a major problem later.
Sony has changed the technology of its kind with every new camera recently, and the A7 IV probably has the best performance possible. The green backgrounds we saw on the old colors are gone and the colors are right on camera and easier to post than ever.
JPEGs look great from a camera with a good balance between detail and noise reduction. 14-bit RAW images provide over 13 flexible environments, which gives you plenty of space to zoom in and restore the illumination. Overall, Sony’s A7 IV offers excellent images of any of its cameras, with a range of detail, high ISO performance and color accuracy.
