Google has recently taken over search search results, but sometimes reliable sources are hard to find – especially with broken content. Now, Google is experimenting with a new feature that can alert users when searching can lead to unreliable results, Restart they say.
It is designed to give users the ability to search for new and exciting features. “If anyone is searching on Google, we are trying to show you the most relevant, reliable information we can,” Google Search correspondent Danny Sullivan told Restart. “But we find a lot of things that are completely new.”
The box above advises users that “it looks like the results are changing rapidly,” adding that “if the topic is new, it sometimes takes time for the results to be updated with reliable sources.” For example, it mentioned the latest story about a UFO claimed to be captured by the camera of a police hot helicopter of 106 MPH.
“Someone had received a police officer a video released in Wales, and he had a little bit of media coverage. But nothing more,” Sullivan said. “But maybe people want it, they could be on the television – so we can see that it’s starting to change. And we can also say that there aren’t many good things out there right now. And we think maybe new things can come.”
If used properly, these new features can add to Google’s recent performance in informing users of search results. In February, the company released “on this result” a description of the site. This may explain in more detail how the page describes more or less of the time it was first written.
However, pop-ups of “about this” are hidden behind a menu where people cannot know who they are typing. Recent experiments warn users at the front and center that the results may not be reliable, and I hope to provide users first before spreading any lies.
