In late 2019, Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 8c and 7c, cheap chips always on Windows 10 PCs and Chromebooks. Today, the company is redesigning the two SoCs to improve performance. The program of Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 it has a Kyro CPU that can achieve clock speeds of up to 2.55GHz. The company claims to offer 10% faster than “many competing platforms.” Qualcomm must have processors from the Intel’s Gemini Lake family in mind here. The company also claims that 7c Gen 2 can offer several battery life to its competitors.
Outside of the CPU fast, 7c Gen 2 with the same snow chip Qualcomm announced in 2019. It has an Adreno 618 GPU modem with Snapdragon X15 LTE. This feature allows 7c Gen 2 to hit a bandwidth of 800 Mbps. As previously planned, the chip was designed to be a training and customer value proposition. According to Qualcomm, we can expect the first Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 laptops to arrive this summer, with the first models from Lenovo.
The new chip is not the only one Qualcomm was supposed to share today. Working with Microsoft, the company has created a file for Windows 10 Snapdragon Switch Tool. As Anandtech he says, we don’t see the growth tools of Windows almost all the time, but this is a move that sounds great. App integration has been a problem with the Windows ARM platform.
We don’t have much in the way of resources, but Qualcomm has promised to share more on Microsoft’s Build conference builds over this weekend. The device looks very similar to For Mac and A12Z Apple donated to developers to help them update their apps to new features M1 device. From the photos the company sent, you can see that it includes a USB-A input, an SD card reader and what looks like a SIM card slot. Given the timing of today’s announcement and Qualcomm’s claim that advertising tools offer a “cheap way for other commercial and commercial devices,” it would not be surprising if it came with a 7c Gen 2 processor.
