While some people consider gold, jewelry, art, wine, or antiquities to be long-term good, new research challenges their ideas and offers a unique and rewarding alternative: Lego sets.
Economists from Higher School of Economics in Russia find that the market price of retired Lego sets sold in the second market grows at least 11% per annum, which is higher than the rebates offered by gold, large stocks, bonds, and other currencies. In their research, the authors analyzed 2,322 Lego unlocked prices from 1987 to 2015 with information about startups and online retail sales.
The study will be published in January Research in International Business and Finance.
