NASA will provide SpaceX with more operational aircraft to support Boeing delays

Boeing continued Delay Starliner has caused NASA to suspend its betting. SpaceNews reports NASA preparing to order three more SpaceX aircraft to ensure “uninterrupted” US access to the International Space Station by 2023. Crew Dragon it is the only way to meet the country’s needs for assistance and security in a timely manner, the agency said. In other words, NASA does not want to be without a mission to the ISS if Boeing is not prepared.

NASA was pleased that Boeing was paying close attention to Starliner’s “stable safety” after delaying a second orbital test to investigate the problem of the oxidizer’s isolation valve. However, this led to the closure of the authorities. It was “difficult” to find additional trips here to continue in the United States on the ISS, Kathy Lueders, assistant director.

This does not put the Boeing capsule at risk. NASA still wants the two regional teams to work together, and arranged for an exchange between Crew Dragon and Starliner when both are available. Officials also stressed that the alliance did not prevent NASA from changing the alliance in order to secure additional missions.

Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. Starliner plays a major role in Boeing’s commercial aviation program and, unintentionally, is a testament to the fact that the old pilot can compete with a ‘new’ runner like SpaceX in common competition. Crew Dragon’s recovery plans show some lost confidence in Boeing, even though the move is temporary.
