Gaza: Islamic Jihad leader killed in Israeli airstrips | Gaza News

Hussam Abu Harbeed, one of its leaders in Gaza, has been killed by Israeli forces.

A Israeli air strike in Gaza has killed Hussam Abu Harbeed, an Islamic jihadist leader, the military said.

The assassination, Monday, is expected to be a strong response to the anti-Hamas militant group, which controls the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military said in a statement that Harbeed was “behind the backs of several anti-Israeli militants”.

Shortly after Harbeed’s assassination, Islamic Jihad claimed to have stoned Ashdod, on the Israeli coast.

At least three Palestinians have been killed in a car crash in Israel in Gaza City on Monday, doctors said, after a tense Israeli night.

Israeli forces say Gaza freedom fighters fired on about 60 rockets in Israeli cities overnight, from 120 to 200 overnight.

Hamas said the attack was in retaliation for “Israeli atrocities against civilians” and called the injured “first casualties”.

At least 200 Palestinians, including 58 children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the recent violence began last week.

More than 1,300 Palestinians were also injured.
