In just a few hours, NASA will try to launch one of its most exciting missions in recent memory. About 1:21 AM ET, a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX expected to take off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California carrying Double Asteroid Redirection Tests (DART) function. In about a year, NASA will attempt to deliberately drop DART into an oncoming asteroid to see if it can change its course.

The test will be the first time humans have tried to change the asteroid path. The binary system that NASA will look at as part of the test will not threaten the Earth, but what the agency learns from the missions may be important in the future. NASA is which could hit the Earth in the next 100 years. And building a defense system is crucial in protecting people from that danger.

You can see the whole program in action . The latest show will start at 12:30 AM ET on November 24th.
