CVC in negotiations to establish a $ 4bn global tennis group

CVC Capital Partners is in the process of negotiating a $ 600m package that would include men’s and women’s tennis calendars and allowing financial institutions to purchase the game.

According to the guidelines, CVC will receive a 15% stake in One Tennis, a new organization set up to monitor the rights of the media and information on all trips, according to people who are familiar with the guidelines, and invest $ 4bn.

The Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women’s Tennis Association, the governing bodies of the tour, should act as a separate body and lead game decisions.

But they can connect the sections so that male and female players can play similar roles, as they do in “majors” – four top games including Wimbledon and US Open with a special governing body.

If approved, the alliance could be the first to shoot CVC tennis, an independent Luxembourg club that has been promoting sports around the world, including football, rugby, volleyball, basketball and track and field.

The company owned Formula One and MotoGP and has purchased in Six Nations, Premiership Rugby and Pro 14 rugby match and the International Volleyball Federation. He made plans to spend money in Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and San Antonio Spurs basketball team.

CVC’s latest trends have been trying to get a few teams to the next level so that they have enough interest to meet the demands of competitive sports and games as well as integrating a digital TV package to sell worldwide.

CVC declined to comment.

The ATP Journey has 64 games in 31 countries, while the WTA, founded by Billie Jean King in 1973, runs more than 50.

By virtue of the same agreement, one tennis player will be able to control the distribution rights for both games, as well as the right to sell data to gambling companies.

ATP has an agreement with IMG regarding betting while WTA has an agreement with Stats Perform, both of which can be monitored by One Tennis if the contract continues.

Mark Webster, head of ATP Media, which has previously sold weapons, has been set to run One Tennis, with ATP Media as its new partner, said a source familiar with the matter.

An agreement could be reached this month, said one of the people. It will aim to set up an organization that will ultimately strive to run slam tournaments and data games, he added.

WTA and ATP said they were “constantly looking for ways to bring the game back to provide opportunities for fans, players and players”. He added: “Working together, we believe there can be great opportunities in the future and we are exploring all that we can do. This is a priority and every opportunity will be tested in collaboration with our stakeholders.”

Both organizations were forced to suspend the sport last year due to the coronavirus epidemic. The results of this discussion were first reported by Sky News

Andrea Gaudenzi, chairperson of ATP, told the Financial Times last year that she liked it combining ATP and WTA. Roger Federer, who also has a history of winning 20 major titles, and Billie Jean King have also spoken out for the merger.
