There was further evidence of the spread of Omicron coronavirus travel to Europe on Saturday when the first cases were reported in the UK and the suspected cases were found in Germany and the Czech Republic.
Officials in the Netherlands were investigating whether the 61 patients who tested Covid-19 after arriving on two planes from South Africa on Friday formed an Omicron contract.
The UK Department of Health says one of the cases in the country has been identified in Chelmsford and the other in Nottingham. Officials say the two cases were connected and connected from Southern Africa.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a press conference at 5pm on Saturday with senior government adviser Sir Patrick Vallance and medical chief Prof Chris Whitty.
The UK Health Security Agency is conducting “a precautionary measure,” the health department added.
People who had been tested for the virus, as well as all their family members, were also tested and told to isolate themselves while other tests were performed, it said. Credible and affiliated cases were followed up and asked to isolate and tried.
Sajid Javid, the government’s secretary for health and social care, said the government had found the two cases “due to our global succession. . . We are moving fast and people are isolating themselves while the interconnected pursuit continues ”.
The government will do everything in its power to “protect the people of the UK from the impending threat and that is why we are increasing the efforts of affected people and imposing travel bans on four other countries: Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Angola. We will not hesitate to take action if necessary,” Javid added.
