Republican senators are threatening state closure over vaccine operations

U.S. lawmakers on Thursday vowed to suspend the government after Republicans threatened to terminate the financial deal in defiance of Biden’s government’s demand for a vaccine.

Several Republican senators, including Roger Marshall of Kansas and Mike Lee of Utah, have threatened to negotiate a deal and risk closing this weekend if they want to block the government’s demand for big business to vaccinate or spread Covid. -19 testing of their employees is not met.

The House of Representatives and the Senate must take action over the weekend to continue funding the US government and avoid closures that could leave hundreds of thousands of government employees. The process must be signed into law by President Joe Biden by midnight on Friday to avoid disruption.

Biden told reporters Thursday after giving a story about new ways to tackle the Omicron coronavirus that he is confident the suspension could be avoided.

“We have everything we can do to ensure that there is no closure,” the president said. “I talked to him [Republican Senate minority leader] Mitch McConnell, I spoke to him [Democratic Senate majority leader] Schumer, there is a system in place, unless someone decides to disrupt it, and I do not think it will happen. ”

The Biden government says that from next year, companies with 100 or more employees should force their workers to get vaccinated or tested once a week, affecting about 80m ordinary workers. The White House has already ordered government workers and contractors to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Rosa DeLauro, a Democrat who is the chairman of the House Allocation Committee; for another two months.

DeLauro said the agreement did not include major changes in existing spending, adding an additional $ 7bn in federal funds to Afghan refugees.

The democratically elected House of Representatives is expected to vote at the same rate at the end of the day, and submit to the Senate, which is divided 50-50, for reconsideration. But the threat of suspension remains high, with several Republican lawmakers threatening to ban it against Biden’s administration. Covid-19 disease requirements for employers.

Few Republican lawmakers can debate stances, or continue disagreements, by attracting filibuster. Marshall, Lee and others have threatened to do so unless lawmakers agree to reinstate Covid laws on big business.

Several Republican senators on Thursday also said they wanted a special, simpler vote for more vaccine workers. But it is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Republican opposition comes amid growing concerns in the US about the new spread Omicron coronavirus variants. Biden announced on Thursday a number of measures to reduce the spread of the virus, including free Covid-19 home testing for all Americans, increased shell control over public transportation and intensive testing for international travelers.

The last time the federal government shut down was in late 2018, between lawmakers and Donald Trump at the time of the President’s bid to build a fence along the US-Mexico border. The representation lasted 35 days, making it the longest suspension in US history.

Nancy Pelosi, President of the Democratic House, reprimanded Republicans on Thursday, saying: “How do they explain to people that they are closing down the government because they do not want people to be vaccinated?”

“We’re not going to engage in anti-vaxxing. OK?” told reporters, insisting that Democrats would not listen to what lawmakers opposed. “So if you think this is the way to establish an open government, forget it. Forget it. ”
