AT&T will soon enable RCS to ship all Android phones

AT&T is the latest carrier to make Messaging and Google a platform for selecting all customers on Android devices. The move will replace instant messaging, SMS, and Rich Communication Services technology, an open source that puts the media at the forefront of the system, removes performance barriers, and enhances personal messaging.

RCS opens up the ability to share completely customized photos and send larger media files than SMS can handle, supports group chats, supports end-to-end coverage of one-on-one conversations, and works on Wi-Fi or data. AT&T customer transactions will take place soon, according to Google.

Google has been rocking the RCS mobile phone company for years, and continues to do so. T-Mobile is making the switch at Google Messages, which is why RCS messaging, at the end of the year, and now AT&T is doing the same.

However, Verizon did not announce plans to take over RCS – nor did Apple.
