Amazon cuts paid off COVID vacation for half the employees

Amazon, the second largest employee in the US, has announced today that it will violate its holiday pay policy for employees who are forced to work in private. The plan, which was launched in March 2020, has already been implemented 14 days of paid vacation; the new schedule lasts one week, or up to 40 hours.

“For the past two years we have been responding steadily to the growing COVID-19 epidemic under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the expertise of our medical professionals,” staff members read. It goes on to say that the 40-hour or one-week pay plan will work “immediately” and “applies to all employees in the United States, regardless of vaccination.”

This change reflects the changes in the CDC – as well as the unpopular – isolation is instruction, published December 27, as well as the decision of Walmart, US chief executive officer, to reduction his pay points for sick travel last Wednesday. It is understandable that some companies may be able to do the same.

Amazon recently reintroduced its mask process to the staff at the site. These requirements, as well as the official temperature monitoring, were established immediately as a two-week holiday law last year, and were subsequently returned to full vaccination workers in May.

Although Amazon is often criticized for failing to properly care for its employees, it is currently following government guidelines and focusing on its financial interests above all else. Instead, the disruption of the holiday pay package for two major employers in the country is a return to the benefits and security that many of us rely on to cope with the ongoing epidemic.

Earlier this week, the termination of the White House deal with retailers ordering the sale of COVID home tests for a $ 14 pre-ordered price, on the same tests. almost doubled on price at Walmart and Kroger. Other factors, such as the benefits of epidemic unemployment, are relevant it’s already over, while major defense measures, such as a ban on deportation to New York, are expected termination of employment soon. In the meantime, the US is still meeting record numbers of good cases.

Amazon is right that the CDC has changed what it believes is a necessary length of isolation for hopeful people. But this proves that Amazon and Walmart, which were not previously, offer significant compensation to employees due to the risks that exist in the workplace. Surprisingly, those plans rolled back fast as well.
