AWS to help car manufacturers realize remote problems | Business and Economic Affairs

Amazon Web Services has launched a new cloud-based service that can help car manufacturers detect problems in their vehicles to prevent memory loss and improve security, as well as monitor related information, the company told Reuters.

Named AWS IoT FleetWise, the latest tool for the newly acquired AWS for Automotive portfolio of product and services for the transportation industry kicks off Tuesday at Amazon.com’s annual conference: Invent in Las Vegas.

FleetWise assists clients, including automotive dealers and transport operators such as Lyft and Uber, to collect, process and transfer automotive data on the cloud, while representing a variety of data sources for data analysis, according to Mike Tzamaloukas, AWS for Automotive general manager.

“As cars become smarter and more sophisticated, the amount of data generated from vehicles with cameras, radars and radars is growing exponentially,” Tzamaloukas said in an interview. FleetWise was created to allow customers to “easily access shared data across different types of vehicles and vehicle types,” he added.

FleetWise was also designed to support data-driven services provided by automakers, including General Motors Co’s OnStar and Ford Motor Co’s Ford Pro Intelligence, he said.

The new project incorporates a wide range of automotive and cloud offerings from AWS for Automotive and 185 businesses, according to Dean Phillips, global business leader.

Focusing on the growth of automotive manufacturing companies and systems defined by software, “we strive to make it easier and more convenient for our customers to find solutions to their problems,” he said, referring to the development of self-driving cars. to “digital customer interaction”, including promotional services.

AWS history includes cloud computing, data storage, analytics and software development.

While Amazon does not underestimate the value of its automotive business, the company’s AWS team continues to grow.

In 2020, AWS reported operating gains of $ 13.5bn on sales of $ 45.4bn, up 47 percent and 30 percent respectively from last year. In the first nine months of 2021, despite the ongoing epidemic and global turmoil, AWS growth was significant: $ 13.2bn in profits of $ 44.4bn in sales, almost equal to its annual results for 2020.

According to the Synergy Research Group, more than 60 percent of the $ 45bn in corporate cloud services used in the third quarter was donated to three major technology companies: Google Alphabet Inc, with a 10 percent stake; Microsoft, by 20 percent; and AWS is 33 percent.
