One was closed because workers fell ill with Covid-19, the store said, and there were not enough healthy workers to keep it open. Meanwhile, some were apparently closed as a way to protect themselves to keep employees and customers safe.

Gizmodo contacted Apple to confirm the Times report but did not receive a response by the time of publication. We will make sure to change this story if we hear it.
