At least 16 people have been killed and eight others injured after firefighters used in a Yaounde club set fire to a fire, the government said.

‘I lost my brother’
About 100 people gathered outside the mortuary of the Ekounou military hospital in Yaounde on Sunday, hoping to find relatives.
“I have not the foggiest idea. I woke up this morning and she told me that my 38-year-old son had died, ”said a woman who identified herself as Fidele.
“I was waiting for my brother and friends last night, but he never came. And about 7am, I received a lot of phone calls asking if my brother was dead or alive. So I came to the mortuary and found his body, ”said Fidele’s daughter Claude.
“I lost my little sister,” said Stephane Hamza, 38.
“He was a good, kind guy who had been working for this club for two months. When I heard about the explosion, I went to the mite store where he told me he was dead.”
In Douala, the economic capital of the south of the country, at least five discos have been partially or completely burned by wildfires over the past six years.
