Maung Maung Kyaw, a senior US prosecutor, says he has been removed from office since 2018.
Myanmar’s military chief has fired a senior military official, journalists and sources close to the military, after several deadly poison bombs violation of the refusal that results in international opposition.
Sources told Reuters news agency that Maung Maung Kyaw, 57, a senior military officer, has been relocated since 2018.
Two sources said Htun Aung, a former air force commander, took over the role.
The change in staff came as the military reportedly flew back on Thursday to Htigyaing, Sagaing town, according to Kachin News Group. Residents of the town have reportedly been fighting troops since Wednesday evening.
There was no public announcement that Maung Maung Kyaw had been removed and Reuters could not find out why military leader Min Aung Hlaing had been removed.
But a page in the Eleven Myanmar newspaper quoted war spokesman General Zaw Min Tun as saying that Maung Maung Kyaw had “finished his work”.
“According to our military plan, he (General Maung Maung Kyaw) will remain a member of the SAC. The Chief of Staff became Commander-in-Chief (Air). San has finished his work, “the spokesman said.
Since the military seized power in a insurgency on February 1 last year sparked massive protests by the opposition, a military force has been used to carry troops around Myanmar to crack down on protesters.
Witnesses say the air force has also been used to detonate bombs that have killed civilians. The military has not commented on the allegations and will not follow civilians.
On Thursday, the Karen Information Center reported that weapons on Tuesday destroyed a hospital in the town of Dwe Lo in Karen state.
The military, which has detained incumbent Aung San Suu Kyi and many of his supporters, has called opposition groups loyal to the government ousted “terrorists”.
The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) says more than 1,400 people have been killed in the violence since the attack, including those killed in the bombing. The military is criticizing the so-called casualties.

Maung Maung Kyaw was the head of a Reuters survey last year that revealed that his relatives, including his son and nephew, were a young generation of war-torn families with businesses that included supplying weapons.
Photographs and TV shows – party shows in Singapore’s most expensive venues and trips to Bangkok, London and Santorini – showed his family enjoying a life beyond the reach of most Burmese.

Maung Maung Kyaw the sanctions that the United States imposed on him in his role as a terrorist, he did not respond to Reuters’s inquiries into the military before releasing his investigation.

Some of those who died are said to be mentally ill.
Pictures posted on TV by The Irrawaddy featured what appeared to be a cremated human body. Al Jazeera could not confirm the report.
