Abiy Ahmed pardoned political prisoners and called for a ‘national dialogue’, but airstrikes continue to kill civilians.
The Ethiopian government seems to be offering an olive branch to end a year-long conflict north of Tigray.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has released a number of prominent political prisoners, including leaders of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.
Abiy said this would open the way for global dialogue on lasting peace.
But some government critics have called it an eagle, especially after a government plane crash killed at least 56 refugees along the Eritrean border.
So is Abiy’s statement about solving problems peaceful?
