Democrats are forcing Amazon to learn more about the death of a hurricane

Members of Parliament and representatives of the House including Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Cori Bush sends a letter to to inquire whether the company’s policies contributed to the deaths of six workers when a typhoon hit a warehouse in Illinois earlier this month. A catastrophic weather event on December 10 resulted in at least 58 deaths in the Midwest. The venue was destroyed in the incident.

In the letter, obtained by , Democrat lawmakers say “Amazon puts workers’ safety at risk in the face of daily and emergency situations” and that this is what happened. The group asked CEO Andy Jassy and chairman Jeff Bezos whether “Amazon’s policies could have contributed to the crisis.”

Senators and delegates demanded more Amazon security information and information about staff at the event on the day of the event. He also wants to know if the company told employees to stay in the warehouse facing a hurricane warning. The group – which includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, and Sens. Bernie Sanders and Ed Markey – asked for a response on January 3rd.
