Several villages were covered with ashes when the highest mountain on the island of Java erupted.

The sudden explosion was accompanied by torrential rains and heavy rain, which pushed lava and volcanic debris into the mud and damaged one bridge connecting the two main cities of Pronoji and Candipuro, as well as obstructing the evacuation, Lumajang district commissioner Thoriqul Haq told TV.
