Michael Avenatti has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for theft | Hypocrisy

The political motives were thwarted when prosecutors in California and New York filed a fraudulent Avenatti lawsuit in March 2019. Opponents in California said they were living on $ 200,000 a month while stealing millions of dollars and failing to pay hundreds of thousands to Internal Revenue Service.

Allegations that he tricked Daniels out of book sales weeks later. Avenatti denied all charges.

Recordings showed Avenatti telling Nike’s lawyers to “blow the whistle” on the sportswear company and wipe out $ 10bn at the market price unless it yielded to its demands.

Prosecutors said Avenatti was calculating a large payday to pay off his debts. Nike has denied any wrongdoing.

Avenatti was also convicted of defrauding a teacher, Gary Franklin, of not telling him that he would not stay until the investigation.

Franklin was furious Nike stopped supporting his program, and said he just wanted to restore their relationship. He also said Avenatti has “ruined my reputation” in his community.

Prior to the trial, Avenatti was disappointed when he admitted to being “lost”, and apologized to Franklin and others.

“TV and Twitter, your respect, don’t mean anything,” Avenatti told the judge. “Everyone wants to get on the limo, but very few are willing to be around you on the bus. At the very least, your dignity, is ready to take your phones to jail.

“Me and myself have ruined my career, my relationship, my life,” he added.

Opponents have appealed the decision, saying “the United States Department of Justice wants eight years in prison.” Avenatti’s lawyers said he had been in prison for six months and a year in prison was enough.

In a statement issued by the abusers, Nike’s lawyers said Avenatti had harmed the company by trying to pretend it was connected to bribes in which bribes were handed over to the families of college NBA players to lead the electronics industry. An employee of Adidas, a Nike competitor, was convicted in the case.

The lawyers said Avenatti had threatened to destroy Nike and then falsely claimed that Nike’s terrorist attacks had reached a “significant scale”.

In a statement before the verdict, Avenatti’s lawyers said their client had suffered enough torture, saying many people were embarrassed and had been in prison last year which ended after lawyers said they were at high risk of coronavirus.
