At least 18 people were killed in a fire in China | Another Story

A fire broke out in the middle of a karate training ground in China on Friday and killed 18 people with multiple children living there.

The blaze started at 3 a.m. (19:00 GMT Thursday) and was extinguished, the state of Zhecheng County, Henan province, said in a statement.

It is unknown what caused the fire, which also injured 16 people, four of them critics, the County government said.

Police detained the man in charge of the scene. He did not inform the person or place of teaching.

Most of the injured were students between the ages of seven and 16 who lived in the second room of the site, Beijing Youth Daily reported, although the matter was removed from the website.

In one of China’s worst fires, 309 people were killed in a nightclub in Luoyang, Henan, on Christmas Day in 2000. Many of the victims crammed into a smoky dance floor, which suddenly came out twice, with no lighters or smoke alarms.
