An earthquake has destroyed a house in Atami in the Shizuoka region.
At least 20 people are said to be missing Saturday, after heavy rains hit the central Japanese city of Atami, causing landslides, according to a public broadcaster NHK.
NHK also reported that local authorities had said that a house collapse swept away a house in Shizuoka city.
The report said police and firefighters were searching for missing people, as Shizuoka officials had appealed to the government for help in the event of an accident.
A video broadcast on social media showed the moment when the floodwaters passed through Atami, destroying several houses that passed as several frightened viewers fled.
In the video, another woman was also heard to say, “it’s dangerous” a few seconds later a flood came.
