Exactly 20 years ago today, Microsoft released the first Xbox. At the time, it was hard to know how the company could become so important in the sports industry. Obviously, Microsoft played a key role in developing the PC game, but until then the console market was dominated by Nintendo and Sony. Now in its fourth generation, the Xbox brand has not become stronger, in part because of the smart choices around Game Pass and buying a studio.
