The release of these services in telemedicine has increased during the Covid-19 epidemic, making health screening easier for many people. But the downside of this is that the way patients think about medical care is all divided.
“This is not just about optometry,” says Richdale. “We hope you can use the internet and get contraceptives or testosterone or other things. And these companies are in the business of making money. So they take out pieces that they think they can do, because they are good and sell them to consumers. You think: ‘It’s glass. What can happen? ‘”
Companies like Warby Parker can offer objections, but that doesn’t mean consumers will listen to them. Lightweight than traditional care, people can ignore minor problems until it is too late.
“A lot of intelligence in the US seems to be running away from preventive care and health tests and especially emergency care,” Richdale says. “You’re pushing a bucket down the street until one day with your problem.”
Experts say that this issue is not just about telemedicine but also about how it is used. Cuadros describes the best way to reach, but never change, the care that doctors provide. And it can be used effectively by doctors on the spot. Vision tests can be very helpful, especially if they are in the hands of a doctor who knows your needs as a patient.
“Perhaps the person who closes the curtain should not simply be an anonymous eye specialist in any company,” says Cuadros. “But he has to be a local eye doctor, a person you can still see. Include eye care providers in the area. ”
Whether Warby Parker can be confident enough to help people leave their doctors and start a process that blends in with their vision – half online, half in the Warby Parker store – is unknown. But it is expanding its availability and potential online and remotely, with the potential of the internet becoming a more marketable commodity.
