Turns out Microsoft’s HoloLens 3 might not be dead after all: gadgets

I also worked for a software startup between 2019 and 2020 focusing on proprietary software for the Hololens 1 and 2. The Hololens 2 had a pretty bad display (compared to the really nice resolution of the Hololens 1, albeit super small FOV), but goddamn the hand tracking, the inside out headset tracking, and the spatial mapping are groundbreaking.

The company could not survive over covid, too many universities stopped classes which were face to face and nobody was buying licenses for our software. It’s a shame but hardly surprising.

The Hololens 3, if done right, will probably be the thing which tips the industry over the edge and into a new era of visualization and interaction.
