The idea to pull the marquee contestant from Donald Trump’s education in New Jersey following the Capitol massacre in January has emerged as a major issue in the tightening of lawsuits between the former U.S. president’s lawsuits against New York City.
Trump has sued the city for breach of contract following its expiration in October of 20 years the company did to oversee the Bronx state golf course called Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point – and named some of the game’s most prominent names.
According to a recent statement from the New York City Parks Department sent to Trump in February, “January 6 actions have ruined [Trump Ferry Point’s] the potential for high-profile campaigns, because Trump’s name is now synonymous with a coup d’état. ”
The announcement cited the PGA of America’s idea to move its Open Championship away from Trump’s Bedminster which is due to take place in 2022.
The city has cited language in a legal agreement with the Trump Organization that says Trump Ferry Point was responsible for using “first class, competitive sports every day”.
The company says it has no need for a high-profile competition, however. In recently released court papers, the Trump Organization said New York mayor Bill de Blasio “had a political agenda to end Trump-related treaties” and used PGA migration as a pretense.
It provided the city with a number of letters from golfers such as Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, John Daly and Rocco Mediate. Everyone describes Ferry Point as a “first class, competitive football game”. The Trump administration also issued a letter of approval from the Metropolitan Golf Association, a non-profit governing body for the game in New York City.

Trump’s administration signed a memorandum of understanding at Ferry Point in 2012 with Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, to complete the graduation program and improve performance, paying for a dowry in the city. Ferry Point’s work took the city decades to complete and Trump’s participation seems to be a competition at the moment.
The producer pondered at the time, plus interview and FT, that the venue, with its iconic view of Manhattan, could be a major golf course. The polls opened in 2015 just a few weeks before Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency.
Rumors of Trump’s frustration with the launch of his campaign led Blasio to consider ending a corporate partnership with the city, not only at Ferry Point, but also in New York, including carousel and rink skating in Central Park. The city did not do so at the time, but it is believed that it had good reasons after the January 6 incident.
The PGA’s idea was soon followed by a comment from the UK’s R&A, preparing for The Open, that Trump’s Turnberry training in Scotland could not be offered in Britain.
The lawsuit has been filed with the Trump administration and the city after the deal.
The company wrote that its contract “has no ethical or ‘bad guys’ status”. It also said the city could terminate Ferry Point’s land deal “at will,” according to the agreement, but said there would be a $ 30m debt.
The city also claimed that the agreement allows for the termination of the contract “on the grounds”, which allows them to avoid paying.
Trump’s administration also said in letters that Blasio’s actions shortly after his release on January 6 showed that the city’s PGA charges were fraudulent.
In particular it cited in a January 13 tweet from de Blasio that said: “New York City does not do business with insurgents.”
