TikTok is testing the “repost” button in its app which allows users to actively share video with their followers. The new product, which the company described as an initial experiment, has not been made available to anyone, although it appears to need several users in the past few days.
“Right now, we are trying a new way for people to share TikTok videos they enjoy,” TikTok said in a statement. This feature looks like the yellow “repost” button along with the rest of the app. TechCrunch results reports that re-posting will not print to your profile, but push the video to “For You” feeds for your friends. You can also add a brief comment that will appear with a clip for your friends to see “why you resubmitted this video.”

Although TikTok was already known to have users continuously sift and re-share each other’s preferences, the repost button is the first time the app has something similar to a retweet – the ability to resize a video from your own feed. Monga TechCrunch results TikTok can be a bit tricky with the look because making it easy to edit notes can ruin the “For You” feeds, which are known to be socially popular.
This may be the reason why the company is reducing the visibility of repostors to successive friends, especially at the moment. Elsewhere, the company is looking at other ways to incorporate the videos that people see on their blogs, including reducing them about what can be difficult.
