Two planes carrying aid to Afghanistan, the first of its kind since the Taliban invaded the country in August.
Saudi Arabia has sent two carriers social assistance in Afghanistan, state-run media has said, its first such approach since the Taliban seized power in August.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has sent more than 65 tons of food, including 1,647 baskets of food, the Saudi Press Agency said on Thursday.
The chief superintendent, Abdullah al-Rabeeah, said the Saudi humanitarian bridge would see six planes providing more than 197 tons of aid in Afghanistan.
He said the aid would also be provided on land for 200 vehicles from neighboring Pakistan.
The Gulf Arab states convened at a meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday to “support the efforts of countries to provide assistance to the Afghan people and to improve their economy”.
More than half of the 38 million people in Afghanistan are affected lack of “extreme” food., according to the United Nations, winter is forcing millions of people to choose whether to relocate or not hunger.
