The US has placed 12 Chinese groups involved in mass computing and other high-tech technologies on the list of exports, saying they are at risk of obtaining the American People’s Liberation Army’s technical expertise.

The move, which makes it impossible for U.S. companies to sell technology to listed companies, targeted 27 corporations, including 12 in China and two joint ventures in Japan and Singapore. In addition to quantum computing, the list included companies in the semiconductor and aerospace industries.

Eight Chinese groups have been closely monitored for non-compliance with the package, and the US Department of Commerce has said it will help the PLA develop anti-slip and anti-piracy measures and improve US covert attempts.

These actions reflect the recent efforts of Biden officials to make it difficult for China to protect high-tech technologies and military operations. Last month, U.S. law enforcement officials have warned U.S. companies about China’s efforts to acquire technology instead of combining quantum computing with intelligence intelligence.

“This is a clever move and an important reminder of the growth and development of China’s efforts to achieve the technological know-how that will undermine US security,” said Martijn Rasser, a former CIA chief of technical and national security. Center for a New American Security think-tank.

In addition to the Chinese think tank, Washington placed 13 Pakistani companies on the “group list” for nuclear and missile weapons operations. It also added the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology to the list of “weapons users” which makes it difficult to sell technology and military services.

“Current developments will help prevent US technological advances from progressing in the war between the People’s Republic of China and Russia,” said Gina Raimondo, US trade secretary.

Earlier this year, the U.S. put Phytium Technology on a “product list” to prevent American technology from being used in the production of high-end Chinese computer semiconductors used to make hypersonic weapons. FT recently reported that China tested hypersonic weapons in July that shocked the Pentagon, and asked new questions about the amount of US technology used to support Chinese military.

Chinese companies were set up list includes three affiliated Corad Technology, which the US claims to have sold American technology to Iran, North Korea and PLA affiliated groups. More and more companies include Shanghai QuantumCTek and the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences in Microscale.
