When Spotify announced its approach to eliminating Car View in 2019, it seemed like a wise way to prevent drivers from getting distracted on the road. Every time you connect your car to Bluetooth, it removes external objects such as menu buttons and disc technology. Instead, it gave you big buttons to stop and play music; jump to the previous or next route; or as a particular song. Nifty! But I hope you did not agree too much, as Spotify has confirmed that it is “removing” the side, according to recent support thread (through Android Police).
Spotify administrator, who was responding to a user who noticed that the feature was missing on his Android app, also said Spotify was “actively exploring several new ways to provide better listening in the car.” They also added that the removal of traffic contexts is necessary to “create new routes.” It is understandable enough, though it does not excuse losing the essential security component without a clear switch.
The administrator suggested using Google Assistant (or Siri on iOS) to manage Spotify manually, which can also be used when navigating Google or Apple Maps. And, frankly, that’s how a lot of people (including me) are able to direct music along the way.
It could be that Spotify is prioritizing Car View because there are many other ways to deal with music playback in cars. If you have a modern car powered by CarPlay or Android Auto, you just connect to your screens and you will not see Car View running. Many of the cars made in the last decade also have some kind of controller on their wheels.

Obviously, there is a very bad intention, as some Spotify users have mentioned in the forum thread. It could be that the company is trying to push people into the Car Object, an additional $ 80. We found it a useful upgrade for old cars, but it seemed unnecessary as soon as you hooked up your phone and streamed to Spotify directly. Without the Car View feature, that strange tool suddenly seems very useful. In situations like these, simple explanations often come from companies that realize that certain things are not being used properly.
