Kaseya appears to have hundreds of small businesses that rely on the company’s business, including many in the US

MSPs use the Kaseya VSA cloud platform to help design and deploy software updates to their clients, as well as to address other user issues.

However, it appears that the eagles are harassing the VSA “for using a malicious program” to finance “companies around the world,” Record reports. While it is not clear what the plot was or how it happened and when it happened, security experts say the payment does not only apply to MSPs who use VSA, but also to their clients. Security Huntress told Gizmodo that three of its clients, MSPs and VSA operators, were affected by the attack and, as a result, about 200 small businesses that rely on those MSPs were hacked.

“We know four MSPs where all customers are affected – 3 US and one foreigner. MSPs with more than a thousand ends are being hit,” said John Hammond, chief security investigator at Huntress. “When the MSP is disrupted, we have seen evidence that it has spread through the VSA to all MSP clients.”
