The Google Pixel 6 will be powered by a popular Tensor chip

Briefly with WIRED, Osterloh had the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro around to show off all the changes. It was obvious that the two new phones share a connected camera as well as a large sensor, capable of capturing 150% more light than the Pixel 5, making the photos brighter. The Pro is a very large phone, however, it has an extra 4x lens for camera use.
However, the external design of the phone was completely changed. Instead of having a camera connected to the left, all cameras are located in a solid horizontal chamber that looks at the back of the entire phone. There are a number of color options to choose from, and the upper part of the camera features a touch of color, mimicking the original Pixel two-tone color.
“If we are to change the world, we must change the structure of the world,” Osterloh said. “Pixel has always been known for its graphics, and that only makes sense.
Aside from the only central camera and fingerprint scanner, Google doesn’t share much more about Pixel. Osterloh says the company will specify details in the fall, near the launch of the Pixel 6. It has not shared the prices of the new phones, or the upcoming Pixel 5A – which is expected to be cheaper than the next.
Not ready for repairs, anyway? Osterloh says Google is still planning to bring new features to the old Pixels, as they have been doing for the past few years, but it still depends on whether the devices can handle them. In the best news, it looks like the Pixel 6 line will see a longer support program. Competitors like Samsung are offering four years of security updates and three versions of the Android OS, yet Google has been active for three years.
“We are working to ensure that our final numbers will be there and we see the potential to increase, so we are excited about this,” says Osterloh.
Command Performance
Google’s sales in its chip confirms the company’s commitment to digital devices, though Google only plays a single role in the global smartphone market. Osterloh suggested that the Tensor chip device could be displayed on other consumer devices over time, which could help reduce the cost of its use in TPUs.
“Making your chip can be as long as you can climb, and it takes a lot of people hours to stay competitive,” says Anshel Sag, senior researcher at Moor Insights & Strategy. “That’s why Apple made their chips on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and gave them lots of chips.”
So how can Tensor be compared to Apple Bionic Chips, which Cupertino company likes to sing like electric? Osterloh was not ready to share the show on Google’s new chips. Sag says he believes it would be difficult for Google to achieve something in small chips that would never happen before. “I don’t see Apple’s technical team right now, because Apple did so well in so many ways,” says Sag.
One of the things Google’s business uses that can work, is the few phones that sell. The global pressure for semiconductor drivers is expected to last for months, and it affects everything from automotive delivery to home appliances to electronic devices. If Google launches the technology this year, Sag says, the company must have ordered the bread for the past two years and has already discussed how many phones it expects to sell. “Which are not many,” concludes Sag.
Osterloh says: “Everything in semiconductors is a staple right now.” On this chip, we have a lot of control, and we don’t believe the Pixel 6 line can be forced. That’s fine. there are many semiconductors in the market, as in any electronic device, which has become very complex. It has touched us again this year, for sure. ”
