A few days have passed since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, opened preliminary investigation in Tesla’s “Passenger Play” sectionwhich allows drivers to play other games on the car’s touchscreen while the car is moving—the manufacturer has decided to change its design to prevent this dangerous and potentially fatal.

NHTSA confirmed to Gizmodo on Thursday that Tesla was changing the Passenger Play system. The study was written by a complaint has been filed to the organization from Tesla Model 3 owners Vince Patton in November. Patton decided to worry when he found her play a game, as Sky Force Reloaded and Solitaire, in his car inside. (Tried Passenger Play in an empty college car park).

“Someone has been killed,” Patton told reporters Associated Press. “She’s really crazy.”

According to the NHTSA, drivers were given the opportunity to play games in their Teslas while driving in December 2020. Although drivers were able to play games before the game, this was only available when the vehicle was stopped. Last summer, Tesla added the game Solitaire, Sky Force Reloaded, and Polytopia War: The Rise of the Moon, Playing the Game, all that could be sung while the car was moving, and The New York Times reported.

The Times found that when players are asked to make sure they are not driving when they open the game, nothing stops them from lying and jumping around to play.

The agency’s audit covers all Tesla models manufactured between 2017 and 2022, or approximately 580,000 vehicles. NHTSA told Gizmodo that its investigation was open and that is in the process of collecting information from Tesla.

“Following the launch of Tesla’s initial review of ‘Passenger Play,’ Tesla informed the agency that it was changing the functionality of the system. “The board is consulting regularly with all manufacturers to discuss potential safety impacts on the technology, including how Tesla responds to our concerns in this regard.”

The spokesman added that the Vehicle Safety Act prohibits manufacturers from selling cars with defects that put them at unsafe risk. This includes “technologies that prevent drivers from operating safely,” the spokesman said.

Gizmodo contacted Tesla to comment on Thursday but did not receive a response by press time. Since the automaker disrupted his media department, it is unlikely that we will receive an answer. However, we will make sure that we change this matter only if the company returns.
