Belkin’s $ 100 Soundform Connect dongle adds AirPlay 2 to each speaker

Some smart aficionados remain Google’s fun Chromecast Audio, but the new Belkin Soundform Connect seeks to fulfill the same responsibility – for iOS users, anyway. The $ 100 dongle can connect to any home speaker and convert it into an AirPlay 2 speaker that can deliver audio from iPhones and iPads running iOS 11.4 and iPadOS 11.4 or newer, including Macs running Catalina and Apple TV with tvOS 11.4 .

And when we talk about “everyone” in the house, we really mean it. Soundform only affects Chromecast once – more than it did, that is. In addition to the old 3.5mm injector, there is also a standard connector port – Chromecast Audio requires audiophiles to have a TAPLINK-to-3.5mm adapter.

According to Belkin, users can ask Siri to play their music or podcasts on the requested speaker, as well as ask an assistant who is playing in each room and to temporarily correct the speech. In addition, the addition of AirPlay 2 means that you will be able to invite the speaker to specific rooms and hang them on home objects only from within the Apple Home app. Is that work worth $ 100? We’ll let you know as soon as we get one, but check if you’ve already sold on the idea – Belkin says Soundform Connect will be available from “seller selectors” soon.
