Streamlabs removes ‘OBS’ from the name of its program after fraudulent complaints

Follow-up allegations of plagiarism and copycat nameming schemes, Streamlabs has announced that it is removing “OBS” in the name of its popular advertising program. At first glance, the move is a direct response from the back manufacturers Open the Broadcasting app (OBS), who claimed that Streamlabs used their naming system against their will. The immediate response, however, is directly linked to criticism from viewers like Pokimane and Hasanabi, who threatened to stop using the Streamlabs app if it did not address copycat concerns.

Streamlab’s apology comes as a defense, as it argues that its software is an open source like OBS, one of the original tools designed specifically for the audience. The Streamlab program, which was praised for being well-designed and very heavy, was also set up with an OBS fork. Despite the original distribution, Streamlabs has always been a different career. It also offers high quality services on top of its free program, so you could say that Streamlabs was making its business based on the popularity of OBS.
