Al Jazeera answers key questions with the first Middle East football tournament in less than a year.

Qatar 2022, the first World Cup football match in the Middle East, has just 12 months left.

The next World Cup opening match, presented in Qatar in 2010, will be played on November 18, 2022, at the Al-Bayt Stadium in Al-Khor, north of the Doha capital.

What challenges did the World Cup face in Qatar?

Since its inception, Qatar has been embroiled in corruption and business fraud.

In addition, the extreme heat in the summer months in Qatar means that game dates have been changed to November and December which has also forced players around the world to change their schedule.

Recently, concerns over the lack of accommodation have also been raised due to the large number of fans who come to play.
